I've got a place to live
Jun. 8th, 2006 08:28 pmWoo. Hoo. We just secured our housing in Santa Cruz. Well, not IN Santa Cruz, but in nearby Watsonville where the rent is slightly less nutty. We're not buying a place. It's only for two years, so I don't think that would be worth it. Also, I don't expect I'll ever make enough to afford real estate there. We still have to sign the lease and send in the deposit, but we've been approved and offered the place. About time too, since we've only got 17 days until the move. Guess I can take my name off the waiting list for the student family housing.
Also, great line from a book of short stories I've been reading. "If an orgy would help, please don't hesistate." The story is "Those Who Walk Away from Omelas", by Ursula K. Leguin. It's in Masterpieces, edited by Orson "Nutcase" Scott Card. Just a stupid question, when you have to chose ONE story by Isaac Asimov to include, what do you pick? I would say "The Last Question" or "The Ugly Little Boy" or one of a number of the good Robot stories. But Card picks "Robot Dreams". Granted, it's not terrible, but I think every other item I've read by Asimov has been better.
