Behold the power of procrastination

So, I'm working from home today. We'll see how well that works. Too many distractions around here. At the office, the only distraction are the internets. Oy. When I was in grad school I always went in, and because I shared an office stayed off the internets except when it was work-related. Look at me, posting on LJ at 10 in the morning.

But I can't go in today. Today is fall student move-in at UCSC. I know, it's late. We're on the quarter system. Parking services as commandeered all the parking lots for that. I asked them where I was supposed to park, and they said they have not reaped all the way to the edges, leaving the gleanings for the poor. How very Levitican of them. But I think it's best not to chance it. It's a 45-minute drive on a good day. There's only 1 entrance to the campus and 15,000 students and their parents are moving through it today. I won't live long enough to make it in today. Francis had no problems with me working from home today. He tends to view students in a similar manner as Archchancellor Ridcully of Unseen University. And he gets the reference.

Since I never got around to installing an X-server at home, doing anything graphical is going to be tricky. This is probably a good chance to review that paper for JGR-Planets. I was asked to have my review in by today and I've been putting it off to work on a model of tidal dissipation in a visco-elastic body. Yes, I actually like derivations. OK, enough procrastinating. Back to work.

Peace out, y'all.
