Here is is, after Samhain and it's finally starting to look like Fall around here. Some would denote this as the beginning of winter, but it's only just fall. The leaves are turning and it's started to rain. We finally got a lemon off the tree. In my second part of my 434 part series, "Better Know a Season", I've photgraphed the area on Samhain. The couple obligatory Jack-o-lanterns make their appearence, but largely I have pictures of the UC Santa Cruz campus. The ones I meant to take four months ago, but never remembered to bring in the camera. They are posted here. UCSC is set up on a hill away from the town in a Redwood forest. It's very pretty that way, and it's nice for the city, which hates the university with the white-hot passion of ten thousand suns. It does make finding one's way around impossible, though.
Last week I started running convection models again, with some difficulties. I may post details of that later. I might not. Kate's been going a bit crazy, because the Gamestops in her area don't seem to have received the Wii interactive demos they were supposed to have gotten yet. They shipped out on time, so I'm wondering if maybe the driver didn't sell them on the black market rather than deliver them. Who can say.
This was a very lazy weekend. Had Irish Stew for dinner. Started playing Children of Mana for the DS. Yesterday, we went to the Goodwill store because I noticed they had some nice-looking window-pane Shoji screens. Turns out they're not for sale. Nothing that's displayed in the windows is for sale. WTF? Why does the goodwill store even HAVE stuff that's not for sale? That violates the very purpose of their existence.
I will leave you with some bad icy satellite poetry by myself and my employer.
