Today (being 24th March still on the West Coast), is the sixth anniversary of the day that
kathleenroberts and I said "I do."
She hasn't killed me yet.
We spent the day in Monterey. We got some very good crepes from some hole-in-the-wall crepe shop by the parking garage near Cannery Row. Then we headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They have a new exhibit, Wild About Otters, where they have some freshwater varieties (African spotted-necked otters, and Asian short-clawed otters) in addition the regular exhibit of the Southern Sea Otters. The new exhibit isn't open until next week, but there was a special members-only showing today. Our memberships have more than paid for themselves at this point.
After we saw most of the aquarium, the mackerel tank was starting to make us hungry, and then we watched the sea otters get fed, and needed to grab a snack ourselves. Then we putzed around Cannery Row, went to the Bargetto Winery tasting room and bought a bottle of Gewurztraminer. We planned to go to the Fisherman's Wharf, but never made it that far. We ended up at The Fish Hopper for dinner, which is real close to the Aquarium on Cannery Row. All their dishes are compliant with the Seafood Watch guidelines, which is nice. Also, the food and service were really good, which is kind of surprising given it's touristy coastal location. We had a great few of the Monterey Bay at Sunset.
Six years and more to come.
