Time for my monthly? update.

LPSC is next week. I have a talk and a poster. The paper on which the poster is based is in press already, so that one's no problem. The talk is going to be suck-tacular. I didn't get the results I'd hoped for. It looked promising when I sent in the abstract, but apparently it's not. I don't think I made any mistakes, I think I just disproved my hypothesis. That's ok, just not very interesting. Could have used some more time to try a few other things, but the Space Department at APL decided that this was the _best_ time to do server maintenance. The weekend before a major planetary science meeting.

This would be the time my abstract gets selected for a press release and I get to do a press conference. Well, I won't have much to say, but I'll have to jazz it up as best I can.

We're going to my folks' tomorrow. They're going to watch the baby while [livejournal.com profile] kathleenroberts and I go to [livejournal.com profile] tango's game. We'll stay the night at my parent's since I'm flying out of DCA tomorrow. I'm in Houston until Friday. [livejournal.com profile] kathleenroberts picks me up from the airport and we're going directly to Blacksburg until Monday. We got us a suite at the Microtel and we're staying until Monday morning. I'm bloody well taking Monday off. So, I'm gone for ... 9 nights.

The boy has gotten himself up on hands and knees a few times, but hasn't managed to go anywhere yet. I'm sure he'll start while I'm gone. He's also said "Dada" a number of times, but I don't think he knows it's a word. Just a sound he likes to make.

I'm out for 10 days here: tomorrow morning it's off to GDC and then from there to MY suite at the Microtel. I am staying until Tuesday though. Monday is "relax and recover" day. See you at T'con!!

LPSC is the one in League City, right? Expect massive traffic if so, they've shut down the freeway while they turn an overpass into an underpass.

Not anymore. They _finally_ admitted the South Shore Harbor was too small for the meeting. This year we're in the Woodlands Waterway Marriott, north of Houston. Looks pretty nice so far.

And they've been working on that underpass for like ten years now.
