Note that this does not work with Pyrex. One Christmas, my mother was making a turkey and some stuffing. She had each of these in a Pyrex pan, with the stuffing on an unused burner on the glass-top stove, and lit another burner for something else, gravy I think.
Of course she actually lit the stuffing's burner and didn't know it. From the other room I hear this loud "CRISSH!!" followed by "Ahh, SHIT!!"
The Pyrex dish completely exploded, not only ruining the stuffing by spraying it all over the room, but getting shards of glass all over the turkey. We went to a Chinese buffet that year.
